Description
Udemy’s top-level pages are experiencing significant Core Web Vitals (CWV) performance issues that negatively impact user experience, search rankings, and conversion rates. Analysis of the five critical pages reveals:
- 3 pages with “Poor” LCP scores (Goal: <2.5s)
- 1 page with a “Poor” INP score (Goal: <200ms)
- 2 pages have “Poor” CLS scores (Goal: <0.1)
This initiative will complete engineering spikes to evaluate each page’s performance bottlenecks and follow up with targeted optimizations, possibly including JavaScript optimization, like adjusting lazy loading and deferring non-critical scripts, and API call optimization, like server-side rendering for any content not being served dynamically or optimized via experiment.
Our goal is to make as much meaningful progress with these pages’ Core Web Vitals scores as possible without hurting our organization’s ability to provide dynamic, optimized content experiences.
