My oh my, what a big day for news in CrossFit. We have a resigning CEO, the CrossFit Games Rulebook release, and a Reebok Nano 10 leak. Let’s go.

CrossFit’s CEO Jeff Cain is resigning, effective the first of September. Cain has been in the role since 2017, when Greg Glassman stepped aside and maintained his Chairman status. Jeff Cain joins a number of executives leaving CrossFit, including their COO and CTO. Morning Chalk Up first broke the story, and reportedly sat on the news for over a week while attempting to get an official comment from CrossFit. Also unconfirmed is that CrossFit does not intend to fill the CEO role, as Greg Glassman will continue to lead ongoing business decisions for the organization.
CrossFit alerted media through a private Discord channel yesterday that the 2020 CrossFit season Rule Book would be released next week. Stay tuned to WODDITY.com for details as they come in.
Quote, “First test of the Nano ____ . Big things are coming for the Nano franchise. We are not going anywhere. We changed the game once. We will do it again.” End quote.
Here’s what you can tell from the picture:
First, the sole of the shoe looks to be doing away with a single-piece floor and is now two-tone with what appears to be different materials.
Second, a finger loop has been added to the upper heel to aid in pulling the shoe on and off. This could indicate a pull-on version like Nike has done with their Flyknit technology.
Lastly, we can see that Reebok has replaced simple holes for laces with a rivet, at least for the top lace eyelet. The mount holding that eyelet is separated from the body of the shoe, which points to a continuation of the two-piece design Reebok started with the Nano 9.
WODDITY was your favorite place for details about the Reebok Nano 9 and the Nike Metcon 5 – stay tuned and we’ll keep you posted about details for the Reebok Nano 10, Reebok Nano X, Ice Cold Nano 3000…whatever the shoe ends up being named. Justin Sua of the Increase Your Impact podcast had some great words we wanted to share this morning. Being positive in a negative situation is not naive, it’s leadership.
Today’s CrossFit mainsite workout is five rounds for time, 400-meter run, 15 hang squat clean and jerks, and 9 weighted strict pull-ups. Yes. We’ll say that again. 400-meter run, 15 hang squat clean and jerks, and 9 weighted strict pull-ups. Men use two 50-pound dumbbells for the clean and jerks, women use two 35-pound dumbbells. And yes, you’re only using one of the dumbbells for the weighted strict pull-ups. This feels like a future Open workout.
And that’s it for news about CrossFit on Friday, August 23rd.
