Prominent CrossFit Games Athletes in IFFF WC, Jacob Heppner Goes Full-Time

  • Good morning and welcome to the WODDITY podcast for news about CrossFit.
  • My name is Ben Garves and today is Friday, the 16th of August, 2019.
  • Morning Chalk Up published an article about CrossFit Games athletes doubling up with the International Functional Fitness Federation World Championships (IFFF WC) in Sweden at the end of this month. Among them are Jessica Coughlan, Meredith Root, Emma McQuaid and Zach Sowder. Notably, Samantha Briggs won the IFFF WC last year. You can read the full article at morningchalkup.com.
  • Jacob Heppner, a four-time CrossFit Games athlete who placed 6th this year and has never placed outside the top-20, has decided to leave his day job. Heppner dropped a video on his YouTube channel. It features him walking through a vineyard and talking about the idea of quitting. Find the link to the video in our show notes, but the gist is that he challenges you to give up something in order to gain something back. Heppner joins the likes of Cole Sager and Brent Fikowski as non-champion athletes who have left full-time jobs to focus on training and growing their businesses.
  • BarBend published an article sharing tips and guidance for runners and other endurance athletes looking to transition into CrossFit. You can find the link in our show notes or find it at BarBend.com
  • Today’s CrossFit mainsite workout of the day is a rest day. So break out that kale juice and sunscreen. Just be careful which one you drink and which one you rub on your body.
  • And that’s it for news about CrossFit on Friday, August 16th.
