WODDITY Podcast: Jacob Heppner’s Hardest Workout, Four CrossFit YouTube Videos, Strength in Depth Qualification

  • Jacob Heppner has published a video about the hardest workout he’s ever done. We don’t want to ruin the surprise, but let’s just say it’s not for those who are faint of heart or who have a weak stomach. Check the video out on YouTube using the link in our show notes at bengarves-staging.mystagingwebsite.com.
  • While we’re on the topic of YouTube, Armen Hammer released a 45-minute video reviewing the 2019 CrossFit Games in their entirety, Jacob Heppner is back to training in preparation for the 2020 CrossFit Games, Craig and Jas visited Machu Picchu with Tia and Shane, and Ant Haynes is joined by Tammy Robinson as they explore the city of Denver after the Games. We have all of those links for you.
  • CrossFit Strength in Depth, the London-based Sanctional event, has released details about their 2020 qualification process on Instagram.
    • First, for individual elite athletes they’ll be accepting forty males and forty females. They’ll also accept 20 elite teams and 10 male and ten female athletes in each masters division.
    • Registration will open the 12th of September. Athletes who register will qualify through the 2020 CrossFit Open. They have to register by the close of the first Open workout, 20.1, which will wrap up on Monday, the 14th of October.
    • They’ll release details about team qualification at a later date.
  • Breaking Muscle wrote a handy guide for how to pace yourself during longer-distance rowing events. Put your seventh-grade math to work and get better at those marathon row challenges. You can read the full article at breakingmuscle.com – we’ve included a direct link in our show notes.
  • No shoes? No problem. Today’s CrossFit mainsite workout of the day is legless rope climbs and alternating dumbbell snatches. Five rounds, for time, of two leg-less rope climbs and 20 alternating dumbbell snatches. Women use a 45-pound dumbbell and men use a 65-pound dumbbell. If you’re still working on your leg-less rope climbs, you can scale this by laying on the ground and using the rope to pull yourself to your feet.
  • And that’s it for news about CrossFit on Monday, August 19th.
