My name is Ben Garves and today is Thursday, the 15th of August, 2019.

Yesterday we learned more about some Sanctional event qualifiers.

First, the Fittest in Cape Town:

In the elite individual category, the sanctional will accept 30 male and 30 female athletes, along with 30 elite teams. This year the South African sanctional is adding some additional events, including:

  • A 15-17 teen category
  • A 40+ masters division
  • And a single-day community team event

As far as qualification is concerned, the event is using a diverse list of invites, starting with:

The Champions of Fittest in Cape Town 2019. Those were Sean Sweeney and Katrin Davidsdottir. Next, they will invite the top-ten males and females from the 2019 CrossFit Games, along with the top-five teams.

A full list of those athletes are included in the show notes, but notable among them are:

After that, the event will accept the top 10 males and females from the 2020 CrossFit Open, coming up in October.

Finally, any spot not accepted by one of those invitees will be filled through an online qualifier. Sign for more details at fittestincapetown.com

The second Sanctional to release details about their qualification process is the West Coast Classic. This California-based Sanctional is in its first year as an official qualifying event for the CrossFit Games. They announced via instagram that they will be using the 2020 CrossFit Open in October as their qualifier.

On the entertainment side of things, Tommy Marquez, along with Heber Cannon and Marston Sawyers of the Buttery Bros will be competing in Iron Games.

Tommy, Heber, and Marz are former CrossFit media staff. Marquez now hosts the Talking Elite Fitness podcast with Sean Woodland and contributes to Morning Chalkup Up as an author and on-screen talent. Heber and Marston run their Buttery Bros YouTube channel and are in the process of releasing a documentary about the 2019 CrossFit Games.

Marquez made the announcement on Instagram. You can also follow the Iron Games on Instagram, using @theirongames.

Today’s CrossFit mainsite workout of the day is: Complete as many rounds as possible in 15 minutes of,

  • 400-m run
