Katrin Davidsdottir and Annie Thorisdottir won the Reebok Butcher’s Classics in Denmark. They placed first in six of the seven workouts and second in the remaining workout. Together they were team “ROGUE Dottirs”. The Butcher’s Classics is a new type of smaller event which serves as a qualifier for a Sanctional event, the Norwegian CrossFit Championship. By winning this, Katrin and Annie have earned an invite to the Norwegian CrossFit Championship in February, instead of having to qualify through other means.
In another smaller local event, Karin Freyova and Adrian Mundweiler won the Austrian Throwdown. Another notable competitor, Thuri Helgadottir from Iceland, took second on the women’s side, behind Freyova.
Given last Friday’s news that CrossFit CEO Jeff Cain is resigning, Armen Hammer called Cain and Greg Glassman to talk through the decision behind the move in his latest video.
Glassman said:
“I know what I want to do. I want to be in a ‘helping people’ space. And I want to help and protect those that help people. And if that’s a smaller company, if that looks like five thousand affiliates as opposed to fifteen thousand, so be it.”
Armen unpacks how the conversations went, and in his words says:
“The simplest answer to’ why leave now’ is that Jeff Cain did what Greg Glassman brought him on to do…we saw them downsize aggressively, they let go of 120-ish employees, the completely dismantled their media arm, they changed the CrossFit Games and the Games season by removing regionals, they created Sanctionals and brought in other events to be licensed CrossFit events, they revamped their training model by getting rid of the specialty courses…and completely re-did CrossFit.com and changed its form and function.”
In summary, Cain did what Glassman wanted him to when he brought him in. The organization is now vertically aligned to Glassman’s wishes and he’s returning to the controlled chaos he prefers.

CrossFit’s mainsite workout of the day today is all the front squat you can handle. Two sets of five, three sets of three, and four sets of one. Warm up those shoulders and focus on keeping those elbows up in your front rack.
And that’s it for news about CrossFit on Monday, August 26th.
