If you’re a CrossFit fan, you’ll love Rachel Garibay

Rachel Garibay is one of the best CrossFit athletes you’ve never heard of. This 2019 CrossFit Games rookie is making her first individual appearance this, but already has quite the reputation.

How’d that happen?

Well, Garibay is a five-time Regionals athlete (three times as an individual and twice on a team). In 2018, her Don’t Stop team took sixth-overall in the CrossFit Games.

It doesn’t end there. Rachel is one heck of an Open athlete. She has placed top-fifty three times and ranked seventh in the world in 2018.

Don’t worry, we’ll excuse you for not having heard of her. In fact, Rachel opted out of the CrossFit Open altogether this year. After qualifying for the Rogue Invitational, Garibay competed in Columbus, Ohio.

At an event rivaling the CrossFit Games, she met some strong competition. Other athletes included three two-time Games champions – Katrin Davidsdottir, Annie Thorisdottir, and defending champion Tia-Clair Toomey. The competition was so strong that fourteen of the twenty female individual athletes who competed at Rogue are competing in Madison this year. Fifteen, if you can Margaux Alvarez competing with an Invictus team.

Rachel’s eleventh-place finish made her one of those fourteenth athletes, and this week she finds herself on the floor of the 2019 Reebok CrossFit Games. Her first Games appearance as an individual athlete.

Join WODDITY and Rachel’s Heliyo family in wishing her a strong outing. Direct message a “good luck” and “kick ass” to her on Instagram and be sure to share the love.
