Dave Castro and Hunter McIntyre Trade Friendly Barbs After Cuts

The real final event of the first day in Madison was the end-of-day press conference. The event featured Dave Castro, Hunter McIntyre, Kari Pearce, Mat Fraser, and Tia Claire Toomey.

A well-placed question about Dave Castro’s decision to not program an endurance event had Castro and McIntyre trading barbs.

Hunter: “Hi. I think it was really good programming, to be honest…and he knocked out the people who didn’t train hard enough. Including myself. And I think he also just wanted to bump me out. That’s all I have to say.”

Dave: “Day one was unlike any previous year, because this year is unlike any previous year. And therefor, you couldn’t program an event like a swim or a pure endurance event as the opener for a field this large. Because, if you did something like that, the wrong people, like him, would get through. “
