CrossFit Open 20.5, Jacob Heppner and Chandler Smith Taking on Hunter McIntyre

One of the best coaching programs in industry is hiring. CompTrain is on the hunt for an assistant coach to join them in Boston. Other than being a great coach, all you need to do is record a one-minute video telling them why you’d be a good fit for the role. Then, email the video, your resume, and available start date to careers@comptrain.co

CompTrain is owned by Ben Bergeron, who also owns CrossFit New England, and is part-owner of CrossFit Tilt, NOBULL, and Fuel for Fire. Bergeron is well-known as an elite athlete coach, training athletes like Katrin Davidsdottir, Cole Sager, and Brooke Wells. He’s also a former team athlete, author of Chasing Excellence, and a co-host of the Chasing Excellence podcast.

You can read more about the role on Ben Bergeron’s Instagram page. I’ve put a link in my show notes at WODDITY.com.

On Saturday, FitAid is sponsoring an obstacle course racer versus CrossFitter event in Tahoe. Four CrossFit athletes and four OCR athletes will go head-to-head in a test of fitness designed by obstacle course racing coaches. They’ll start by competing together in a Spartan Beast race, which is 13 miles with 30 obstacles. That will be followed by four CrossFit-style workouts with an OCR twist. The obstacle course racing athletes will be Hunter McIntyre, Isaiah Vidal, Matt Kempson, and Corinna Coffin. On the CrossFit side, they’ll be competing against Chandler Smith, Sean Sweeney, Jacob Heppner, and Emma Chapman. Is this a chance for Hunter’s revenge?

Tia-Clair Toomey leaked some details about the fifth workout announcement of the 2020 CrossFit Open. She told BoxRox she’ll be flying to Torian Pro in Australia for the 20.5 CrossFit Open announcement. We talked a few weeks ago about members of CrossFit Mayhem competing at Torian Pro, like Rich Froning, Chyna Cho, Royce Dunne, and Tasia Percevecz. Toomey won’t be competing at the event, but will be in Brisbane for the workout announcement.

This is borderline too gossipy for me, but here I go. Musician Lana Del Rey is dating a cop who likes CrossFit. I like the cop part, and I like the CrossFit part. But the gossip? Okay. I said it. I feel gross.

And that’s it for news about CrossFit on Wednesday, September 25th. Thanks for listening. Be sure to rate, review, and subscribe. It’s the best way to give back to the show, because it helps more people find us. I’m Ben Garves.
